About · Southern New Mexico

I create work that helps
people feel connected.

I’m Raquel Madrigal, a multidisciplinary artist, designer, and storyteller based in Southern New Mexico. Whether I’m painting a mural, developing a brand, producing a film, teaching a zine workshop, or building a marketing campaign, I’m interested in the same question: How can creativity bring people closer together?

My practice lives at the intersection of art, communication, and community. I collaborate with nonprofits, businesses, schools, and local organizations to create work that feels honest, memorable, and rooted in place. From visual identities and social media campaigns to public art installations and educational workshops, every project begins by listening — to people, to stories, and to the communities they belong to.

I believe good design should do more than look beautiful. It should make people feel welcome. It should tell the truth. It should help ideas travel further than they could on their own.

Living and working in Southern New Mexico has shaped the way I create. The desert, border culture, local history, and the people here continue to influence my work, giving it a sense of warmth, curiosity, and resilience.

At the heart of everything I make is a simple goal: to create work that leaves people a little more connected than they were before.

What I believe

Creativity belongs
everywhere

I don’t think creativity belongs in a gallery or on a screen. I think it belongs in neighborhoods, classrooms, businesses, public spaces, and conversations. The projects I’m most proud of aren’t just the ones that look good — they’re the ones that help people find each other, tell their stories, or imagine something new.

Whether I’m designing for one client or painting a wall that thousands of people will walk past, I hope the work feels human. Because that’s what lasts.

Let’s make something
together.
